crime & safety

Crime is a major concern of New Yorkers, and one of the biggest obstacles to a safe and economically prosperous city.

The mayor must have a civilian perspective to ensure law enforcement is executed properly. As outlined in the US Constitution, a system of checks and balances is essential to ensure equal justice regardless of race, color, or creed. A transparent system of checks and balances will be the rule.

It’s paramount that we foster a more community-oriented approach to safety in our local neighborhoods. There is no room for intimidation; respect and compassion must be the rule. As your mayor, I will set the tone for the city. Cops will know the names of community members they serve, and we will never have another Central Park jogger case where 5 innocent children go to jail.

Central to my approach is an overhaul of police incentivization. Cops should be measured by citizenship and community involvement rather than arrest quotas. To restore community trust, our police force needs to prioritize little things like helping an old lady cross the street, engaging kids playing a pickup basketball game at the park and talking to teens sitting on the stoop. Encouraging positive community interactions will ultimately create safer communities and reduce crime. I will also initiate the return of on-site NYCHA housing police.

I grew up in the city in the 70s and 80s when crime was rampant. I know firsthand what it is like to stare down the barrel of a gun, be mugged at knife point, and have your house robbed. To walk out of your building in fear of what’s lurking around the corner.  That will not be the normal of this NYC. I do believe that crime should be left up to the experts who have studied it and lived it. Therefore…

MANNY GOMEZ, ESQ.

Mr. Gomez is a native New Yorker. He served his country honorably in the United States Marines Infantry. He rose to the rank of sergeant with the NYPD combatting violent crime. He joined the FBI as a special agent in counter terrorism. He won the prestigious FBI Investigator of the Year award for identifying and neutralizing clandestine activities by hostile intelligence services against the U.S. Then he went to law school at night while starting MG Security Services, one of the most successful security companies in NYC with over 1,000 employees.  He is a well-known crime and terrorism expert in NYC and nationally and frequently appears on both Conservative and Liberal media outlets.

As acting first deputy mayor, some of Manny Gomez’s immediate actions include:

· Repeal catch and release – a second chance should be earned rather than an entitlement.

· Revoke qualified immunity for politicians. Politicians who set the policies should not be above the law and must be liable for their decisions as well.

We have to create an environment to allow police officers and communities to work together to keep us safe. This means not handicapping police officers with policies that do not make them more accountable but just makes them more vulnerable.
